Press statement by MCA Selangor State Liaison Committee Secretary Dato’ Ng Chok Sin
DAP S’gor should celebrate diversity, not polarise villagers in Bagan Makhoda Omar

Whatever political or personal difference DAP Selangor has against BN Selangor Liaison Chairman Dato’ Seri Noh Omar, they should not even attempt to cause racial grievances.

The Rakyat Post (5 Nov 15) reports that DAP Selangor Deputy Secretary cum Sabak Bernam state Assemblyman Ng Suee Lim had proposed changing the name of Bagan Nakhoda Omar (BNO) to Bagan Nakhoda Chong all just because when people mention the fishing village’s name, they would think of Noh Omar as a Captain (Nakhoda).

DAP Selangor must be super free and have run out of nonsensical ideas, or just plain childish.

Given that the BNO is 100% Chinese as claimed by Ng, then he should be celebrating BNO’s unique brand of multiracial acceptance given that this fishing village sits on Malay reserve land. If the BNO name has been there for a long time (many, many years), why bother to change or fix some that is not broken?

DAP claims to represent all races but it is still stuck in its ancient mode of inciting the Chinese against other races, in this case, against the Malays.

What Ng Suee Lin should raise in the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting is how the Selangor state government may improve facilities for the fishermen in BNO, how eco-tourism maybe developed given the uniqueness of the situation where Chinese fishermen fish on Malay reserve land.
